Bokota 03:13
"Well I've never met a child, who's not interested in natural history. So I mean, just the simplest thing — a five year old turning over a stone and seeing a slug and says, 'What a treasure! How does it live? What are those things on the front?' Kids love it. Kids understand the natural world, and the fascinating wonders...so the question is how did you lose it?"

Airwalk 04:10
I used to follow signs, but my stars went out. They’re raining down. Maybe it’s my eyes. They’re full of clouds. Where is the ground? They may have been burnt out for a hundred thousand years and I never knew until the darkness found me here. Dissolve my fear. We’re walking on the air. It feels just like falling. So why should we be scared? The walls and wires look beautiful from here. Used to fall in line, but my heart bled out. I’m jaded now, trapped inside my mind. I’m crying out without a sound and there are moments when I want to disappear, like I could just close my eyes and lift into the air. I’ll meet you there. This is the end. We’re only moving faster. Our time is spent outrunning the disaster. We all pretend we aren’t racing nether. Goodbye, my friend. At least we fall together.

Dive 04:51
DIVE I’ve been hunting and hoping and hiding, backsliding and sinking like a stone, in the wilderness barely surviving, losing sight of the stars that guide me home; but I forget the way you led me through the dark, and how you always could electrify my heart when my head wouldn’t seem to start. Keep your eyes on me. We don't need to breathe. Can you feel the energy? Willfully suspend disbelief. Take a dive with me. I’ve been wistful and wasteful and willful. I stifle the call to pull me out, spinning around reaching out from a whirlpool. Will you stand on the shore and watch me drown? Did you forget the way I held you in the dark? And how I never lost the fire in my heart, though it burned me from the start. I’m going under, I sink without a sound. You are the only one who can pull me out. Gasping in water, I’m calling to you now. Dive in after me before I drown.

Eastern Sky 04:47
EASTERN SKY What have we become? We're all on drugs. We're addicted to the lies that they feed us. Teach me how to love, because I forgot. My neurochemicals are draining through my thoughts. So sedate me. Let me sleep away my life and erase me. Let me kiss the world goodbye. They say the wars were won. They say the good die young. They have been keeping us fixed on the setting sun. Go on and turn your head. Look to the eastern sky. There is a sunrise there if you can last the night. God, what have we done? We’re dead inside and we watch machines devour the divine. Vultures circle us. We’re hypnotized, while the acid in the air dissolves our eyes. Undertake me. I am buried in the lies. Can you wake me? Is there still a soul inside? Systems of extraction we designed leech from us the essence of our life, bottle up the spirits that we hide the grim reality anesthetize the lesions of our blight. They say the wars were won, the good die young, fix your eyes on the setting sun. But when it fades, turn toward the night and navigate by the starlight.

"There are many facets to soundscapes, among them the ways in which animals taught us to dance and sing, which I'll save for another time. But you have heard how biophonies help clarify our understanding of the natural world. You've heard the impact of resource extraction, human noise and habitat destruction. And where environmental sciences have typically tried to understand the world from what we see, a much fuller understanding can be got from what we hear. Biophonies and geophonies are the signature voices of the natural world, and as we hear them, we're endowed with a sense of place, the true story of the world we live in."

Desert Rain 06:06
DESERT RAIN I wrapped the world around my finger and I let it float away, above the sound of my heart breaking because I feel normal this way. Maybe love isn't real, but there is suffering and we look the other way. We may be safe in crumbling castles, but this is our world to save. I hear you crying out my name but you know that I’m the same- we're all alone and so afraid and what difference does it make if we sink or we swim, if we rot from within, if we suffer and all we can do is forgive? Will you run when I call? Will you hear me at all through the storm when my voice falls like desert rain and my heart is a hurricane? We sold our world away imagining a place where we won't die. I let the tragedy empower me. The dark defines the light. I watch you dig your shallow grave and wonder if you’re saving a place for me. We search for purpose in the pain as we bleed like a river into the sea, but you swim out to rescue me. And you know that they’ll try to look you in the eyes and fucking feed you lies. They’ll fill your head with lies. We know the awful truth. We’re sick of being used. We tied off our veins, but they're still bleeding; tore out our hearts, but they're still beating So we sang along to the swan songs, the distant screams in perfect key; and we knew how the story would end all along, and though we grieved, we still believed. We still believe. We sold our world away, paved it with golden streets, longing for a kingdom in the sky. Behold the tragedy. Won’t our gods be pleased? Never mind the heaven we destroyed.
